you're not going to find many of those here-- unless they need sharing. what most interests me is medicine. medicine as it relates to the physical body and the energetic body.
my background in traditional chinese medicine has given me solid footing in something that has pulled on my attention since i was a child: the unseen.
and energy is this-- unseen yet still completely relevant to human health and disease. in chinese medicine this energy is called qi (chee).
onto primal gut...
onto primal gut...
do you still use a dictionary? the paper kind you can hold in your hands? i have one that is missing its cover and smells like the stacks of a well-stocked library. one of the greatest smells on the planet is that old book smell. so, this dictionary tells me that "primal" refers to that which is first. fundamental.
and-- because where would we be without the interwebs-- you will find that "primal" has latin roots that mean "foremost" and "principle."
the digestive tract is quite literally primal. the human brain as we know it evolved from the nervous system of the gut. and the microflora living in gut are as fundamental to health as food, air, and water. i find that many diets and therapeutic protocols skip over this fact-- or they don't give it enough attention.
other life experiences that may shape the direction of this blog:
- becoming a mama
- language, because it mystifies and excites me every single day
- my job. what a treat to work with someone who had mad foresight about gut ecology in the early 90's
- my "stutter," interruptions in speech which i believe are related to diet and lifestyle. more on that later.
- seizures that i had during my first years as an undergraduate. go bruins!
- chronic joint pain and gut disorders
